Phi Delta Theta is, by nature, a social fraternity. It is for this reason that we strive to assemble a rich and enjoyable social schedule every semester. Our events are geared to appeal to every brother, as well as the surrounding Cornell community, who we frequently entertain as guests of our chapter. The social chairmen and their committee consider it their duty to provide a solid social calendar for the brotherhood. In the spring of 2004, we held our first annual semi-formal, which was quite a hit with the brothers and their dates. Last year, we continued this new tradition with a second, and improved semi-formal. Plans are already in the works to have a third, and even better semi-formal this spring.

By holding frequent events, brothers are able to take time out from their hectic scholastic schedule and kick back with their closest friends, keeping true to the first of the three cardinal principles of Phi Delta Theta, Friendship. If you have any questions about the social life at New York Alpha, or would like to schedule an event with us, feel free to call our Social Chairmen, Serge Agbre or Andrew Pfeil.

Sorority Relations

formal

The large Greek life on Cornell’s campus is advantageous when it comes to sorority mixers. Phi Delt strives to plan as many of these mixers as possible, as they are a favorite among the brothers and sisters alike. Because of the higher quality of our social efforts, we commonly receive calls from sorority social chairs requesting a spot on our agenda, and many events have become annual occurrences.

Formals

At the culmination of every semester, New York Alpha holds its highly anticipated formals. As our biggest events, we take our formals very seriously. Held at Taughannock Farms Inn, the elaborate celebration of brotherhood draws current brothers as well as numerous alumni from far and wide. Any brother will tell you that, as much as they look forward to the completion of another semester of college, they look forward to formal more and take pride in being a part of what are arguably the best formals on campus.
